In the previous two days, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested six people in a drugs case, including three Nigerians, and recovered banned drugs from them.
The NCB made these arrests while investigating a different case in which actor Armaan Kohli was arrested on Sunday.
Kohli was apprehended after being interrogated by Ajay Singh alias Mamu, an arrested narcotics peddler. NCB seized 118 gms mephedrone (commercial quantity) and 13 gms cocaine during a follow-up operation.
Another person, Imran Ansari, was apprehended for his role in obtaining drugs based on the interrogation of an arrested suspect. Later, at Nallasopara, NCB apprehended Uba Chinoso Wizdom, a Nigerian national, and seized a commercial quantity of mephedrone. NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede said, “He was the main supplier of mephedrone in this instance.”
“On Tuesday morning near Aarey Milk Colony, NCB intercepted another Nigerian national, Nwachiyaso Israel Nwachukwu, alias Sam, along with mephedrone and intermediate quantities of cocaine,” Wankhede continued.
Sam attacked the NCB team and injured an officer while investigating the crime. Sam has lived in the city for the past five years and is suspected of being the leader of an African narcotics organization. “He was the principal trafficker of this international link,” Wankhede said, adding that the cocaine seized was from South America.
Furthermore, another African drug cartel was busted with the seizure of mephedrone and ecstasy, and another Nigerian, Sunday Okeke, alias Sunny, was detained in Nallasopara on Tuesday. Sunny used to work as a bouncer and now works as an actor.
