Taliban supporters in Afghanistan have been photographed performing a pretend funeral while carrying coffins draped with flags from the United States and other NATO countries.
The photographs were taken in Khost, Afghanistan, just one day after the last American forces left the nation after nearly two decades there.
According to a source, Taliban leaders took control of Kabul airport on Tuesday, August 31, and conducted a symbolic walk across the airport’s lone runway to celebrate the departure of the last U.S. plane left the nation.
“The world should have learned its lesson and this is the enjoyable moment of victory,” Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, said in a livestream video. He spoke to reporters at the Hamid Karzai International Airport and said Americans “could not achieve their goal through military operations,” according to Al Jazeera.
