A British hairdresser who was self-conscious about her appearance died as a result of complications from cosmetic surgery.
While living in Dubai, Louise Smith, 37, flew to Iran for the photo shoot.
After complaining about gaining weight while in lockdown, she became preoccupied with improving her appearance.
However, Louise, from Coventry, has died.
“I still can’t believe this has happened,” pal Danni Chauhan remarked.
“What a young life has been lost all because we want to look the way social media depicts us. I’m sorry you had to deal with this on your own.”
“We are all in shock right now,” Louise’s sister Sharon Elston, 51, added.
Louise is thought to have gone to the Middle East in 2019 when a relationship ended, having working for Toni & Guy in the UK for 19 years.
Her family is now battling for her body to be returned to them.
Dad Neil stated that the process is moving “very slowly” and that he does not have a firm date for the bereaved return.
Through crowdsourcing, £14,000 has been raised.
Iran is a world leader in low-cost cosmetic surgery.
In 2019, it was reported that over 150,000 nose jobs were performed there each year, compared to only 2,000 in the United Kingdom.
