Android users told to delete these apps as ‘Joker Virus’ returns to steal money and data

Android smartphone owners are being advised to remove eight popular apps as quickly as possible, or risk losing money to thieves.

Google has removed eight apps that contained evidence of the Joker virus, which installs hidden malware to track your Internet usage and messages, as well as sign you up for pricey monthly subscriptions.

The Joker virus, which was initially discovered in 2019, has infected over half a million people and stolen thousands of pounds – often without the users’ knowledge.

Android users are being warned to remove the apps from their devices because they are still dangerous — even after being removed from the Play Store.
