Tajudeen Bakare, the head of the Ogboni gang, who was apprehended in July during a Yoruba Nation protest in Ojota, Lagos, has stated that he chose not to flee when he was apprehended by police.
He claimed that he did not disappear because he was arrested alongside other people.
Bakare said he is perplexed by the state’s murder accusations, given that he had no firearms in his possession at the time of his arrest.
“At the Yoruba Nation rally ground, we were not detained. I also didn’t kill anyone. Or how is it possible for someone who does not have a gun to shoot and kill another person?” In a recent interview with BBC News Yoruba, Bakare stated.
Bakare stated that he has not been deterred, and that if another Yoruba Nation rally occurs, he will be present.
