Outside a Birmingham club, a drinker was brutally beaten to death while horrified onlookers apparently recorded the attack on their phones.
The unnamed 50-year-old victim was viciously hit around the head following a night out in Brindley Place in the capital.
At 1.30 a.m. on Sunday, August 29, dozens of onlookers are believed to have filmed the attack outside the Slug and Lettuce and All Bar One venues.
With a broken skull and facial injuries, the man was sent to the hospital, but tragically died few hours later.
West Midlands Police are currently investigating his murder and searching for any CCTV evidence that could lead to his assailants being apprehended.
“We suspect disturbance started at a pub before additional disorder in the street where the assault occurred,” said Superintendent Paul Minor of West Midlands Police.
“The location was highly busy, and we suspect numerous people were photographing the chaos and the aftermath on their phones,” he added.
“I need those folks to come forward since the offenders may have been caught on camera.”
Police officials have stated that they are assisting the man’s relatives and that they worked all night to figure out what transpired.
“We are doing a thorough investigation to determine who is responsible and ensuring they are brought to justice,” Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Mobberley said.
