Following the evacuation of several nations from Afghanistan following the Taliban’s recent takeover of the government, the Federal government claims there are no Nigerians in the country that need to be evacuated.
Since the Taliban took control of the country, various world leaders have been evacuating their citizens. While the United States has evacuated 4500 citizens, the United Kingdom has evacuated 15, 000 people as part of Operation Pitting Evacuation.
In response to calls for Nigerians in Afghanistan to be evacuated, NiDCOM spokesperson Abdul-rahman Balogun stated that there are no Nigerians in Afghanistan.
“We don’t have any Nigerian in Afghanistan. That’s why we are not carrying out evacuation from the country.”
