At least 13 people, including children, have been confirmed dead at Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to Taliban authorities, with the death toll growing since then.
An Afghan interpreter who was hoping to be evacuated reported how he witnessed a girl of roughly five years old being murdered by the bomb:
‘I spotted a baby there and I ran to her and grabbed her up and started taking her to the hospital,’ he told the BBC. I drove her to the hospital, but she passed away there.
