Six children reportedly died after allegedly playing with an explosive device in a forest in Zamfara

Six children have been reported dead in an explosion that rocked Magami village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State today February 16.

The state’s Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran, who confirmed the occurrence, said the victims went to the bush in search of firewood when they picked an explosive device and were playing with it, thinking it was a toy. The explosive eventually exploded killing six and leaving the others severely injured.

Dauran said those who sustained injuries were rushed to hospital in Gusau, the state capital for medical attention.
