Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of six security guards in Kilingili market in the border of Vihiga and Kakamega counties in March this year.
A statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation reveals that the three were arrested on Tuesday night in Mukuru Kwa Rueben.
Statement read: “Three suspects connected with the brutal murder of SIX watchmen in Western Region on 3rd March 2019 have been nabbed by Detectives from the HQs. The three were arrested following an intelligence based operation which began in Mukuru kwa Reuben & led Detectives to Vihiga & Kakamega.”
While recounting the leads to the arrest of the suspects, the DCI said that Fanuel Andayi, who is a 28-year-old was traced with a mobile phone which was stolen on the night the guards were killed.
Police said that by tracking the phone, gadget was located to have been in Butere where the suspect had been arrested.
Second suspect, Aziz Amwayo Akoko was arrested by police of March 21, 2019 and later released on bond. Police found several mobile phones and a laptop suspected to have been stolen, DCI said.
